WHEN Chris Copple takes a day trip he does it in style.
The 47-year-old decided to take a tour of the country from John O’Groats to Land’s End and managed it in just six hours.
Flying instructor Chris, of Irlam, did the journey non-stop in his microlight plane, travelling the 602 miles at a speed of around 130mph.
Chris said: "I don’t think anyone has ever done it before in a microlight.
"I have flown from John O’Groats to Land’s End and back again in one day but not non-stop before."
Chris, who owns Mainair Flying School at City Airport Manchester in Barton, is now checking with the British Microlight Association to see if the feat has ever been accomplished.
He might even contact the Guinness Book of World Records to see if his journey sets a new record.
Chris, who has been flying for 21 years, first flew to Wick in Scotland, because there is no aerodrome in John O’Groats, before heading to his starting point and flying the length of the country to Land’s End.
He added: "The weather was fine but there was a little bit of rain around Edinburgh.
"The scenery is lovely. I have to carry water with me in the plane to sip and I had sandwiches and chocolate."
"We’ve got to think of something else to do now.
"We are thinking of doing Africa to Barton in one day, but we’re not sure yet."
