Salford votes 'Yes' for directly elected mayor in referendum

Salford has voted in favour of a directly elected mayor. In a referendum on Thursday, there were 17,344 'Yes' votes cast with 13,653 votes against the proposal, meaning the turnout for the poll was just 18.1 per cent.
