Jack worked all his life in the shoe industry, firstly at Hardman’s, then Tomlinson – apart from his time in the Royal Navy during the war.
He was also known for his time at The Valkene, in Whalley and The Astoria in Rawtenstall.
He was also a keen footballer and cricketer in his younger days and these interests continued into his later life as a supporter. He also enjoyed a game of bowls at Whitaker Park. He was a committed parishioner at St James the Less RC Church.
His wife, Winnie, died four years ago. He leaves his son Barry and wife Linda, daughter Angela and husband Vincent, and seven grandchildren Emma, James, Christopher, Vincent, Roisin, Sarah and Liam.
He also leaves four great-grandchildren Erin, Ruby, Abbie and Dylan.
An evening reception will take place at St James the Less RC Church at 7pm on Sunday, February 12.
Requiem mass will take place at the church from 11am on Monday, February 13 followed by interment at Rawtenstall cemetery.
