FORMER weaver Mrs Dorothy Thompson, of Manor Brook, Accrington, has died at the East Lancashire Hospice, aged 84.

Mrs Thompson worked at Stonefold Mill, Stonefold, Rising Bridge, and Robinson’s Mill in Haslingden as a weaver. She also worked at Accrington Brush Works.

She was a member of Baxenden Methodist Church Ladies Fellowship and Cambridge Street Methodist Church dominoes club.

Mrs Thompson loved going on holiday when her children were young, travelling on many Kirkham’s country runs.

She also enjoyed visiting Tunisia and going on cruises with her late husband Albert.

She loved baking, knitting and socialising.

She was also a keen football fan and had a season ticket for her beloved Accrington Stanley and managed to go to the last match of the season in 2009.

She was the wife of the late Albert and leaves son Brian, daughters Ann and Lynne, daughter-in-law Annette, sons-in-law David and Stuart, grandchildren Zoe, Claire, Robert, James and Rebecca, great-grandaughter Amelia and Junior ‘the Bump’.

Her funeral was on Saturday when the Rev Roger Brown conducted a service at Cambridge Street Methodist Church followed by cremation at Accrington.
