ROSSENDALE Hospice volunteer Mr Norman Cropper, of Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall, has died at home aged 85.

Mr Cropper was a general foreman for Rossendale Plumbing for around 40 years. During the war he served on the Russian Convoys and was on the D-Day landings.

He was a former member of the Rossendale Lions and had connections with Longholme Methodist Church and in his spare time he enjoyed golf and painting with watercolours.

He leaves Olive, his wife of 62 years, daughter Susan, son-in-law Graham, grandchildren Barry and Glynn and their wives, great-grandchildren Holly Rose and Megan.

His funeral is on Monday when the Rev Roy Nichols conducts a service at the Chapel of Rest, followed by committal at Burnley at 1.40pm.
