FORMER mule overlooker (foreman), Mr Arnold Parkinson, of Acre Avenue, Stacksteads, has died peacefully at home, aged 78.
Mr Parkinson, formerly of Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, worked at Baltic Mill, Waterfoot, and at L Whitaker and Sons, Charles Lane, Haslingden, as a foreman.
In his earlier years he served in Korea with the Army.
He was a member of Rosemount Working Men’s Club and a member of Stacksteads Methodist Church.
Mr Parkinson, husband of the late Jean, was also a bowling club member and enjoyed crown green bowling.
He leaves children Ian, Dean and Ann, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, Ian’s wife Heather and Ann’s husband Steven. He was also father of the late Kay
His funeral is today (Friday) when prayers will be said by the Rev Jan Nendick at the chapel of rest at 2.15pm followed by cremation at Burnley, at 3pm.
