Rochdale Town Hall played host to more than 25 new sports leaders last week who received certificates for their dedication to sport.

Everyone present had attended one of the many sports leader courses run by Link4Life throughout the year at various venues across the borough.

The 35-hour course provides a stepping-stone to employment and provides a qualification to get started. It teaches people the ability to organise activities, to lead, motivate ad communicate with groups and provides the skills to organise a range of physical activity sessions including how to lead safe sporting and recreational activities, understanding the structure of sport and recreation at local, regional and national level, demonstrates principles and practice in running sporting events and competitions and planning appropriate sporting activity adapting where necessary.

Head of Sport and Leisure at Link4Life John Taylor, Business Development Manager for Sports Leaders uk Eryl Hughes and Farah Rehman Youth Sports Volunteer Engagement officer presented the individuals with their well deserved certificates.

Head of Sport and Leisure John Taylor praised all the new beneficiaries of the certificates on the night saying they were ‘an inspiration’ and now have an appropriate qualification to put themselves in the running for a future career in the sport and leisure industry and even possible future employment within the Link4Life.
