Man dies after row outside pub

GLENN Marrow died three days after an incident outside the Castle Inn.

A FATHER of three has died after an incident outside a pub on Christmas eve.

Thirty-nine-year-old Glenn Marrow, of Westward Ho, Milnrow, was rushed to Rochdale Infirmary with severe head injuries after what police describe as an altercation outside the Castle Inn in Manchester Road.

The police did not receive reports of the incident until boxing day and Mr Marrow, a grandfather of two, died the day after.

An inquest is expected to be opened later this week.

Later, Mr Marrow's wife, Fiona, the mother of their children, 22-year-old Sarah, Glenn, aged 21 and Shaun, aged 10, paid tribute to him.

She said: "Glenn was a loving, caring family man, who had a fantastic sense of humour that lifted the spirits of family and friends.

"He was always helpful, very popular and will be sadly missed as a husband, father and grandfather, who was seen by all those close to him as a best friend.

"We will always remember Glenn for his loving, caring nature.

"We feel cheated that he was taken from us, but we feel glad we had the privilege of sharing his life before it was cut short."

Meanwhile, police say a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Glenn was the nicest most genuine person ive ever met. A true friend. A true family man. We feel privileged to have known him for too short a time. We feel robbed and are truly devastated at this time. All my thoughts are with his family at this hard time.

Finding great comfort in these kind genuine messages. Lost a very special person, not only as a dad but my best friend, our world has been ripped apart through an act of senceless evil. He was a peace maker not a fighter. But one thing that won't be taken from us is the memories and every single one brings a smile.

It's like throwing a pebble in the pond, us being the pebble and the ripples reaching out to others, it has destroyed and upset so many people. But thank you all for the support, as we need it. Dad will be in heaven with all the other angels, helping god to give us strength to cope. I hope our justice system does dad proud. But god will be judge and jury, there is no place in society for those who chose to use violence.

I cry for my daddy at night, i loved him so much, he bought me ps2 games and anything i wanted. I feel sad, he was a funny daddy and kind to my friends, help them pump up the tyres on the bikes and let them sleep over, and get Macdonalds and stuff. He told the window cleaner at christmas. do you want a tip? and he said yes please, daddy said, my tip is don't clean the windows in the rain, and then give him some money, everybody laughed. Love you forever and ever daddy.
