TWO kittens left in a bag by the side of the canal were rescued by a man walking his dog.
Rochdale RSPCA worker Anna Widdowson, who has named the kittens Bill and Ben, said: “It doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened to them.”
Although the new RSPCA centre in Redcross Street is not due to open officially until December, the branch has been accepting cats and kittens brought in by the charity’s own animal inspectors.
Anna said: “We have another abandoned kitten we want to find a home for. She was found dumped in a cat carrier in the Spotland area.
“She has been unwell and is still having treatment from the vet for a sore mouth, but she will make a full recovery.
Adoption
“Bill and Ben are 14 weeks old and they are ready for adoption.”
Another kitten looking for a home is Adelaide. She was picked up outside Heywood Police Station.
“She’s only about 12 weeks old and is tabby and white. We also have a mature cat, aged about four, who came from an elderly lady who could no longer look after her,” said Anna.
If you can offer a home to any of these animals, telephone Anna on 861897.

Anybody who wants a pet should have to be visited by a member of the RSPCA, on a yearly basis, to ensure the animals are okay, and it should be made a criminal offence not to notify the RSPCA that you have an animal.
