THREE men who joined in the 'appalling' gang rape of a drunken teenage girl have been jailed.
The trio took advantage of their young victim when she was 'intoxicated and helpless' a court was told.
While they carried out a series of sexual assaults, one of their friends took pictures on a mobile phone camera.
The girl's mother called her mobile phone during the attacks, only to hear the cries of her daughter on the end of the line.
Ajmal Afridi ,19, of Merefield Street, Rochdale, Imtiaz Syed, 20, of Ellesmere Street, Rochdale and Tayab Hussain, 19, of Henry Street, Rochdale, all pleaded guilty to rape.
They were each given custodial sentences at Bolton Crown Court.
Detective Constable Charles Stewart, of Rochdale CID, said after the case: "These three animals have subjected the victim to the most appalling and demeaning crime.
“They took full advantage of a young, vulnerable girl with no considerations to the huge and devastating impact this has had on her.
“The fact this vile attack was filmed by another person has made this all the more difficult for the victim and they have rightly been given long sentences for their crimes.”
Afridi pleaded guilty to two rapes and sexual assault and was sentenced to six years in a young offenders' institution.
Syed pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault and was also given a six-year sentence.
Hussain, who pleaded guilty to rape, was sentenced to three years in a young offenders' institution.
They were all banned indefinitely from working with children.
The girl was raped at a house in Rochdale on May 28 last year.
Passing sentence Judge William Morris said: "You each took advantage of her when she was intoxicated and helpless.
"This was spontaneous behaviour on the part of you all deciding as and when this opportunity arose."
He added: "At the time of committing these offences neither one of you had reason to believe she was consenting to what you were doing to her.
"She was incapable of such consent."
A victim statement read by Virginia Hayton, prosecuting, said the teenager felt violated and her self-esteem was low after the attack.
In October 17-year-old Mustafa Arshad of Melrose, Rochdale, was sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institution after he was convicted of using a mobile phone to take photographs of the assaults on the young girl.

I have been pointing out the evil spread of gang rape which was more common in London and has infested British Cities and is now spreading to former mill towns. Please educate your daughters sisters wives etc and make them aware of what's going on.

There is no justice in this country anymore, prisons are just great, you meet your mates the food is great (better than hospitals) you can work if you want or stay in bed if you like. There's a gym & games, telly too. You name it you can get it in any prison, you even get your own room.
Enough is enough I say. I say its time a political party stood on a mandate for proper justice. If you're violent then violence is your punishment - public birching's. If you're a thief, your possessions are confiscated, sold & your victim suitably compensated. If you deliberately break a window, all your windows are removed. If you're a rapist, you stripped of all clothing & forced to exist naked amongst us so that everyone can see what you are. If you murder then you hang.
Er, why a YOI? These 'men' are 19 and 20 years of age. Why not 'proper' prison?

If I say what I truly feel I would probably end up in court myself with a longer sentence that this bunch of scum. I cannot understand the sentencing system anymore especially calling those over eighteen young offenders. I have a daughter and I would not know how to handle it if god forbid something like this happened to her. I think I would forget the law and take matters into my own hands. God I never thought I would ever feel like that but the more I read about these pigs and the way they treat women the more I feel as I am living in a 3rd world country with no protection from criminals .
This is happening to often and the law has to protect the citizens of the UK from them.
A sad indictment of justice in this country, if people want a better justice system though they need to accept a few things before change could ever be made. Shorter sentences like this mean less money spent on incarcerating this scum, the better the facilities this scum receive the more compliant they are in prison = less staffing and less cost (beware the real cost of private prisons), and finally the good old human right act. Initiated with the best of intentions but do we really want animals who act in this barbaric way to others to have the same protections and rights as a god caring citizen??
How depressing it is to know that these vile creatures will be fed and cared for at the expense of the taxpayer for a pathetically short time, then released back into our society to damage more lives.
My heart bleeds for the poor girl. Whoever you are sweetheart, if you read this, don't let them ruin your life, girl. Dig deep and somehow find the strength to move on. God bless you.

Under sharia law the poor girl would have been stoned to death for having ilicit sex and the "boys" would be free to leave.
I'm reading about these sort of barbaric crime,s daily in the UK,We as a family are looking to Emigrate to NZ within the next few years soon as my wife qualifies in nursing were off,I'm not naive to think NZ Hasn't got its problems,but the powers that be deal with it accordingly with HARSH PENULTYS that fit the crime not like here in the UK,the Great out of Great Britain has long gone.

There was a time when I would have thought at least 0ne out of three scumbags had deep down some sense of morality. Truely a case of birds of a feather. To be this squalid before you are even 21 years old.
