MP takes new role to find Kashmir solution

NEW post ... Paul Rowen meeting the president of Pakistan (right) earlier in the year.

MP PAUL Rowen has been appointed the new secretary of the all-parliamentary group on Kashmir.

Mr Rowen, who was previously a group member, as well as the Liberal Democrat spokesman, has campaigned on the issue of Kashmir and its volatile political and humanitarian situation.

The House of Commons group, which consists of members of all the main political parties, is working to find a peaceful solution to the Kashmir situation and to monitor issues in the region, including human rights abuses.

Mr Rowen said: "I'm delighted to have been selected to become secretary of this very important parliamentary group. I have campaigned vigorously and tirelessly on this issue and I know how important it is to many of my constituents, who are from Kashmir, and who also have friends and family in the region. As secretary, I'll be committed to finding a peaceful solution to the Kashmir problem and pressing the British government to do more to highlight the terrible human rights violations and incidents of rape that we've been discovering."

Mr Rowen who met with the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in September to discuss his work added: "When I met the president, he said he was committed to finding a peaceful and workable solution for Kashmir. I'll be using my duties to make sure that more international support is given to support the people of Kashmir."

MP for Rochdale? Not Kashmir
It is a fallacy that MPS and political parties work in the best interest of the people who have voted
For them they do not this is a example.
This is a advertisement for voting BNP

I wish our useless mp would spend as much time finding firms to invest in our town as trying to find a soloution to this impossible problem.Lets hope the good folk of Rochdale get rid of this waste of space at the next election.

Local Walker if that's the case I parked on the disabled spot at Asda and many folks saw me do that that so that'll be another 100 votes going for the BNP. I will remember not to fart at A&E at the infirmary, if so then we have all had it LOL. Get a life you sad PC hero. You sound like those making a fuss about Asda and not turning up at the protest. Typical computer warriors.

Sorry John, But every little thing that happens in Rochdale with Asians is considered an extra vote for the BNP. Getting slightly sick of these comments now. I abide by the rules, work hard so hate getting tarnished everytime for anything another Asian does wrong.

Rowen needs to be supporting the local people, NOT organisations full of the hate mob who are opposed against anything to dow ith the christian way of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

My concern would be how much time and energy does Paul Rowen have left to deal with the issues and promote the needs of the people of Rochdale?

Maybe there aren't enough people in Rochdale lobbying Paul Rowen to work to turn this into a prosperous and happy place.

Maybe his work here is done?

I just don't understand.

This is a clear example of opportunist political posturing by Paul Rowen.

Are the Lib Dem leaflets tailored to certain areas with certain themes?

Anti war in some places but pro-fusillers in others?

Such shoddy political tactics are dangerous and socially divisive.

British rule ended in Kashmir in 1947. Why are we getting involved in a dispute Between Pakistan and India. These are 2 major countries and should have diplomats who could solve the problem. The last thing we need is our troops serving over there, which is what normally happens. Especially as both sides have nuclear weapons. Lets get our own country back in business and stop poking our noses into others.
