JAMIE Archer was in Rochdale last night to perform his first gig since leaving the X Factor.
The rocker, whose distinctive hairdo earned him the nickname Jamie Afro, switched on the town's Christmas lights (after performing a 20-minute set including hits by The Killers.
The former pub singer, dressed last night in a leather jacket, rock T-shirt and jeans, told the crowd of hundreds in Rochdale town centre that he was happy to be gigging again.
Danish band Alphabeat, best known for hit song 'Fascination', kicked off the evening's music.
There were also appearances from Fizz, of children's favourite The Tweenies, stars of Rochdale Football Club, and the cast of the town's Curtain Theatre Group's production of the musical, Rent.
Jamie, 34, who was voted out of the TV talent show on Sunday, also sang Kings of Leon's 'Sex On Fire', a track which helped him make it through to the X Factor live shows.

I hope everyone who was in Rochdale for the turning on of the lights, really enjoyed hearing Jamie Archer sing. He’s good and I wish him a very happy future. Good luck Jamie. xx
well done jamie for coming to a old cotton mill town and giving the locals some enjoyment you went down well.
Youll allways be welcome in rochdale....
Who? Did he come cheap or something?
Did he ask why the Christmas Lights in Rochdale still say "Happy Eid"?
the eid lights are still up because eid is next week, well before christmas!
Who Cares what the lights say,We Christians Know it is Christmas, and we are a multi Racial society. We also know that there are bad and good in all. We all want to happy and have a good time, whether it be "Eid" "Hanukkah" or "Kwanza" If we all join in with everything the world would be a much better place, with Rochdale being a home all.
