THE town’s young people certainly know more about their rights after an ‘Informed and influential day’ at Deeplish Community Centre.

It was organised by the Children’s Rights Alliance for England, Sana Kiran Khan,  Rochdale junior children’s champion and the council and aimed to give the youngsters valuable skills and knowledge.

The children had to come up with suggestions on the subject of ‘If I could change one thing in my local area to improve the lives of children, I would…’

The mayor and mayoress, Councillor Robin Parker and Ann Jones, dropped in to hear some of their suggestions and, in return, the young people had an opportunity to interview them on decision-making issues.
