FRIENDS and family of brave teenager Kelly Atkinson will be wearing her favourite colour, pink, at her funeral on Friday.

Mourners have been invited to wear something of that colour in honour of 18-year-old Kelly, who lost her lifelong battle against cystic fibrosis last week.

The funeral, for friends and family, will take place at St Paul’s Church, Norden, at 12.30pm, followed by a service for immediate family members only at Rochdale Crematorium.

Kelly’s pink coffin will be taken to the church in a white horse-drawn hearse.

After the funeral, friends are invited to Haciendas Wine Bar and Tapas in Broad Lane.

Kelly’s mother Sue said: "People are invited to wear something pink to the service – it could simply be nail varnish, lipstick or a tie or scarf. Kelly would have wanted everything to be pink and happy."

It is family flowers only, but donations cam be made to Derian House in Chorley, where the former Oulder Hill Community School pupil attended for respite care.

Flowers will be placed on Kelly’s grandfather’s grave in Thornton Cleveleys, near Blackpool, where Kelly’s ashes will eventually be scattered.
