A PERFORMANCE of ‘Hosanna Rock’ was one of the highlights of the Springhill Hospice carol service at St Chad’s Parish Church.

Among the congregation were the mayor and mayoress, Councillor Robin Parker and Ann Jones, and MPs Jim Dobbin and Paul Rowen.

‘Hosanna Rock’ was peformed by pupils of St Patrick’s Primary School and was a successful repeat of their Nativity.

Ian Jenkins, fund-raising manager for Springhill Hospice, said: "My personal thanks go to St Patrick’s pupils, staff and parents for putting on this play at short notice. It was wonderful.

"We were delighted to see a full church and the service was led by hospice chaplain Martin McGonigle."

On Christmas eve, people in Wardle will be singing for the hospice again, as the villagers gather round the Christmas tree to sing carols and welcome Father Christmas.

Everyone is welcome and and the organisers hope that, once again, the collection tins will break the £1,000 mark, as they have for the last two years.
