ROCHDALIANS paid tribute to those who gave their lives serving their country at a series of moving parades on Remembrance Sunday.
Hundreds of people turned out to witness the traditional wreath laying ceremony in the town centre, while commemorations also took place in Littleborough, Wardle, Whitworth, Milnrow and Royton.
The town centre proceedings were led by the Rochdale branch of the Royal British Legion, members of the Fusiliers Association and the Royal Naval Association, as well as dozens of young forces cadets, Scouts and Guides.
The Legion of Exhortation was read by deputy Lord Lieutenant, Wing Commander David Forbes and the Kohima Epitaph was read by Canon Alan Shackleton.
In Littleborough people lined the streets as the parade made its way from Hare Hill Park into the square, where the Rev John McGrath led the service.
Armed forces veterans, police, firefighters, scouts, guides, cubs, brownies and local councillors turned out alongside hundreds of members of the public.
Traffic came to a standstill in Wardle as more than 200 people, including scout, guide and brownie troupes, joined the parade, led by Wardle brass band, from the village square to the war memorial,
