A CONVICTED child rapist is finally behind bars after going on the run before being sentenced.
John Tregalles, aged 61, failed to turn up at Bolton Crown Court when he was due to appear on Thursday 26 September. He was sentenced, in his absence, to 20 years in prison and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Following a tip-off by a member of the public, Tregalles, now living in Northumberland Place, Teignmouth, Devon, was arrested on Monday night in Slattocks. He will now begin his jail term.
