A TRIBUTE night and auction in memory of former Falinge Park High School pupil Daniel Round has raised £2,500.
A signed Manchester United shirt, which raised £786, and a signed England Rugby Union ball, which raised £300 were among some of the items auctioned at the Falinge Park High School Sports Kids Celebration Evening.
The ball was donated by Daniel’s parents Dave and Juli, from Norden, whose 13-year-old son lost his brave battle against cancer last year.
Professional rugby league players, Michael and Emon Ratu, former Falinge Park High School players, presented 40 awards to various pupils for sporting prowess.
Proceeds raised on the evening will be split between the Manchester Children’s Hospital and towards Year 11 pupil Tom Hammond’s quest to play professional ice hockey in Canada.
Tom was recently awarded a scholarship at Harrington College in Canada.
