New Order legend Peter Hook part of Rochdale musical legacy

MUSIC icon Peter Hook has joined the list of celebrities supporting Rochdale’s musical heritage.

As bassist in not one, but two of the Manchester’s most influential bands, Joy Division and New Order, Hook was a regular face at Cargo Studios in Kenion Street and is hoping that blue plaque celebrations will inspire a new generation of Rochdale musicians.

GRACIELAND studios, owned by Rochdale’s most famous songstress, is opening its doors to fresh young talent.

‘All Around the World’ star Lisa Stansfield is backing new music in Rochdale, offering recording time in her own studio as first prize in the Back Door Music Project’s Battle of the Bands competition.

Hopes high for Death By Audio

SLOWLY clawing their way to the front with their blues-inspired hard rock and working class vibe' Death by Audio have big plans for the rest of 2009.

Formed in June 2008, they band have already produced their first E.P 'Kill Your TV', which is due for release in August recorded in their home studio and release on their own label Stone Deaf Records.

PROVING punk roots are alive in Rochdale, XFM DJ Clint Boon’s arrival was met with anarchy at Hopwood Hall College.

Invited back to the college to be part of the alumni section of the new prospectus, the former pupil had barely set foot in the building before everybody was evacuated by the sound of the fire alarm.
