Why is it when you reach a certain age and you are going through your photos with your kids you become very nostalgic and you're thinking "I wonder what my school friends are doing now?"
Hi Rossendale and hello to all ex LEA BANKERS - What a great school that was and a privilage it was to experience such a location and a sense of belonging.
I was at Lea Bank in the sixties and left in 1970, my name then was Yvonne Fawcett -
I had long black hair and was not very tall. Fondly named by some as "TAPPED" and "TREE TRUNK LEGS!" I came to Australia after marrying David Morrison from Heywood at the age of 18. (1972) Needless to say, I have lived most of my life here in the West but it has not stopped me from remembering both friends and teachers that helped shaped my life. I would dearly love to catch up with CLARE nee Bayliss from Holcombe Brook along with Angela nee O'Garr, (I have written since we saw each other last but no replies). June nee Bailey from Rawtenstall who was head girl. Anne nee Bancroft from Rawtenstall. Sheila nee Sutcliffe who lives in Crawshawbooth. Peter Aspinall. Peter Morton. The two 'Denise's' and anyone else from the same form (lower 5th and upper 5th) CSE. My ageing brain is having difficulty remembering their names. I would also love to catch up with Mr. Rayton our art teacher ( I have recently been dabbling ) also Mr. Roberts our English teacher who's words have never left my ears. Mr. Roberts, if you are reading this, my book has started! Mrs. Avery, who I believe lived in Burnley, Brian Preston, not sure if he is still in Oz and of course not to forget Mrs. Calvert who also had to put up with my younger siblings. I would also like to say a big hello to Joyce nee Medlin. I do hope you are still celebrating your anniversary the same day as David's and mine. No doubt your family has grown since we saw each other last.
Although I have had a few trips back to the valley with my family, I have been unable to attend a reunion. So if any one knows when the next one will be, please let me know.
To anyone else that I have not mentioned if you remember me, please get in touch. I still think the valley is one of the most beautiful places in the world - except for the weather !!!
