Yes, High Speed Rail is important and I agree it is vital to the future of railways in the North. Unfortunately there are a bunch of NIMBYs in the Chilterns led by Martin Tett of Buckinghamshire county council who are hell bent on preventing us from benefitting from what we seriously need. We in the North can not be dictated to by a small group of upstarts in the Chilterns.
The economy of Greater Manchester and employment for local people here is far more important than preserving the Chiltern Hills. That said, High Speed 1 through Kent proves that HS2 can be built without the damage that the 51M group and the Stop HS2 lobby claim will be the case. We must stop Martin Tett and his 51M Group from achieving their aims which would be disastrous for the North West in the long term.
