I don't know the value of it, thats why I asked, There are some well informed (or at least give the impression of being) commentators here at times.

Agreed, but at a time when, for example police budgets are being cut year after year, and the main government aim is cutting the deficit I wonder if now is the time to be undertaking cosmetic repairs to stations.
I am all for spending what money there is to improvement transport links, so building the Odsall link for example would seem (so far as I can judge) sensible. Reparing roofs which have been leaking for years would seem to offer less immediate benefit, so can wait.
