I totally agree. The political class that has been created in this country does not represent the people well at all. Northern MPs who flock to Westminster soon close their ears and adopt a 'we know best' attitude. If the Scots get independence - which they are totally entitled to - then our situation is even more precarious than it is now. We should be thinking long term about how to influence our lives more. Apathy is dangerous for the North.
