A transfer question for the knowledgable ...

We sold Adebayor to Spurs but only by subsidising has wage demands. Now that it's being strongly rumoured that Spurs want to sell him, what happens as far as City are concerned? We may well have been willing to continue paying him to appear for Spurs, but suppose he ended up at the swamp, as an example. Would we be happy to pay him to play for them, or would his current deal be cancelled first?
