A good shout for Joleon, this post. Some of the criticism of him is that his ball from defence is slow, therefore he doesn't contribute well to a high tempo attack. However, if Roberto has told him to pass sideways at the back looking for width from the wings & movement from the midfield (in particular Yaya), & not ping an aimless ball 50 yds to the opposition then that would explain the slow build up with the emphasis on ball-retention.
