Is there a further motive for this: who profits by the increase?
"The ordinary people" get penalised by everyone else; the Government, the banks, insurance companies, power companies to name the principals.
Many people buy at supermarkets because many pubs charge a lot more for the same amount of drink, e.g. Stella, whiskey vodka & wine by the glass etc.
