Manchester didn't get the Olympics, because London was always going to host the 2012 one. It's been many, many years in the planning, hence why that bit of land was left basically derelict for so long, in preparation for it. The time frames and processes and reasons presented to the general public, do not correlate with what actually goes on behind the scenes when it comes to things like this. We had zero chance from the get go, regardless of how strong or weak our bid was. It was always going to go to another country.
