MAG is in business, purely and simply to make a profit. That aircraft land there is coincidental. It just so happens that MAG have a monoply in the Greater Manchester area. Very few local people work for MAG (remember the course on Manc English so people could understand their employees) and it boasted, several years ago, of making £3 million pound a month just in parking charges.
Its landing charges are one of the highest in the UK, along with its landside and airside food charges. It's so-called duty free shop still has VAT charges on its receipts and was charging 50p for a simple plastic bag for items being taken airside.
There is no competition and MAG just does what it wants, assisted by various councils (who have shares within MAG). Incoherent buzz words hide a greedy, outdated organisation which should be sold off to the highest bidder asap.
Lets see how they cope in the real world. With a £15 million (self inflicted) loss in two years, I would imagine not long.
They have a saying at Olympic House. 'Do not look out of the window in a morning, you'll have nowt to do in the afternoon'.
