I think it is fair to say that both Manchester sides have a fairly poor record of bringing Youth players through for at least the last few years. City are now in a similar position to Barcelona...great young players but a need to stay at the top so are trying to get more top quality players in for fear of other sides getting them...what chance would you reckon any Striker has from the City Academy right now....absolutely none....the same could be said for a midfielder....!!! As for Utd they are crying out for a youth player to come through...Wellbeck has done well but apart from him who else looks like breaking through at the moment....they are forced to go out and purchase the likes of Smalling and Jones because they aren't producing their own....!!! Citys Academy kids are becoming a victim of City's new found money and Utd just aren't producing kids good enough and when they do ie.Pogba they don't give them any game time...catch 22 if there ever was one. !!!
