The fundamental problem for someone like Mike Morrison in the UK is that house prices here are way too high - £200k or so will buy a mansion with a pool in Aussie! Its churn in the housing market that creates demand for tradesmen, but as a country the UK is firmly set on a path of waiting probably 20 years until increase in wages makes an average house affordable to someone on average pay once again.
