I've taught in some of the schools in Manchester where the children speak virtually no English and seem to resent Britsish people.I had one boy who refused to stop standing on his desk and gesturing at me with two fingers every five minutes. The Head couldn't have cared less. I wouldn't call an influx of immigrants a 'boom', I would call it a tragedy. There are few jobs here for them and British culture is being further eroded. This is no cristism of the many long standing British ethnic minorities in this country;it is a statement that we have no room left for a new influx and no infrastucture to deal with many of the problems that some of them bring .These people are not immigrants from the old British empire looking for a better life.
