Mr Leese forgot to mention that Manchester's original plan was for the Olympic Games with an 80,000 seater stadium. I think they were successful at the bidding twice,in 1996 and 2000 and we were beaten by Sydney in 2000. He also didn't mention how little support was forthcoming from the government and London did everything possible to smear Manchester knowing that if we were successful,London could have been out of the running for years. As it turns out,their smearing worked and London won for this year. Our Games were fantastic due to good organization,headed up by a great guy whose name escapes me. For me,these Games could be in another country which,in effect,they are!
