The logical conclusion of the ideology that encouraged people to buy their council homes. Ignore society as a whole, and get people financially and emotionally tied in to having something 'better' than their neighbours and they will then fight not to lose it, just as we all have mortgages now and therefore are financially tied in to not having a revolution no matter how bad things get. When will we (the population) ever learn that our 'leaders' are only doing this to divide and conquer? One person's 'free' school is another child's lack of opportunity. Removing schools from the state system just means that the majority, who aren't geographically or financially fortunate enough to have this choice, then get dealt a poorer hand. If 'free' schools were any good, then ALL schools would be 'free' schools - which obviously can't happen because then all schools would have the same status which would defeat their purpose.
