I wonder why the Government withheld the loading figures for the WCML? The business case has been optimised to try and make HS2 look good on paper and thus secure funding. One expensive rail infrastructure project alone will not bring radical changes to the wider economy. Further investment in regional areas will have to be funded to make a difference. Where will this money come from? and how can we be sure if further investment will happen in the North or the South? When you look at property values in the South it is reasonable to assume this is more tempting for investors looking to make profits. With airport expansion in the melting pot we need to see some joined up thinking from the Government in terms of a National Transport Strategy. HS2 No Environmental Case, No Business Case and No money to pay for it. Stop HS2.
