to be fair to the drugs companies, they only have a patent on a drug for 20 years (from memory) and that's not a lot of time to recoup what can be decades worth of expensive research and trials. Especially when many drugs fall by the wayside.

Without these companies, we'd have no new drugs and there would be no hope at all!
