Wellbeck didn't play - however Welbck did. With an emphasis on defence (even Milnr and Young were supplementary full backs) the front two were lacking support throughout the game and, in the circumstances, it's hardly surprising that none ofthe forward players (Rooney, Welbeck or Carroll) wre man of the match candidates.
