The point is the club is the main thing, players come and go. Edwards, probably the most decorated RL player ever, a Wigan legend. Moved over to the dark side to be closer to his son in London once his playing career was over.. Farrell, at Wigan for his best years, went to the dark side when his body was knackered, and became a centre !!!!. Robinson, decorated himself in glory at Wigan, and did go to Union for a different challenge and the money. Ive no doubt that Sam Tomkins will move to RU, but even if he went tommorrow we have had a Super League and Wembley success which he played a major part in. One thing is for sure Wigan will just pull another player off the production line to fill his boots. He may be a Mummy's boy, but boy is he good and that is not even up for debate. I dont blame them one little bit for taking the big money if RU were willing to pay it, once they had done a shift for RL.
