Of course to be fair you need to add in the wait for a tram or bus, as they are not timed to suit any one person's required start and finish time. I used to use the train to get to work, but I had to start earlier than I wanted and finish later (up to 45 minutes) because the train back at the time I wanted to finish missed out my station, despite it having parking for commuters. Both bike and car can set off at the time that suits the traveller, a great advantage.
