Why should it always be about what developers want and what profit it can make in the short to medium term? That's usually not what's right for a city in the long term.
Nothing is built now that will last and stand the test of time like all the old buildings we love. I don't have any definite ideas, but I'm sick of these companies buying up all the real estate and delivering temporary, sub standard buildings with the approval and backing of the council, to provide facilities we already have in droves.
