I work for MDS and am proud to say I do. I cannot believe the city council commisioners have broken something that didn't need fixing. Treatment services are improving with time due to us listening to what best meets the needs of service users. Were handing out letters to clients which tell them that services are being rediseigned to meet the needs of services users and helping them move on. This is happening and happening for years. Were already doing the work but obviously not being recognized for this. My biggest worry is that I've issued scripts to clients and said someone will be in touch to advise you where to pick your next script up! The staff don't know where they are going to be on the 1 July let alone the poor clients. The panic has set in amongst service users as like one said to me "were supposed to be a developed country, we don't treat people like this". Staff are wondering where their income to pay their bills is coming from come the 1 July. Service users and their families are affected as where is their treatment coming from and staff and their families are affected as where is their income coming from?
In all of this I have to say every member of staff in MDS are still providing a professional service and trying their best to reasure all their clients. They are also continuing to ensure that the clients will be transferred over to the new providers as part of a smooth transition. (a lit are working until 9 at night after finishing their normal days work) Lesser staff would 'throw the towel in' and give up.
