The Library have refused to make public their Disposal Policy. Instead of PR exercises like this one - giving the M.E.N access to blah blah blah - why don't they make the Policy public so we know what the criteria are for "giving away" 210,000 items. How will they be chosen? This figure amounts to a fifth of the Library's total stock.
The Library was originally funded by public subscription and is now Council run - but apparently us citizens have NO SAY in the disposal of a fifth of the Library's stock.
Until Mr McInnes makes the Policy public and opens up the debate to citizens, academics, Library users, etc, then this operation will continue to be subject to rumour, speculation and suspicion.
