There is a huge problem, it's not with the people of Manchester though, it's with a Police 'service' led by an unaccountable chief, who cannot be removed from office and is not accountable to the people. He has according to some begun to play politics, try phoning the Police and all you get is excuses about government cuts.
The Police are angry about this because it will throw into sharp relief just how expensive and inefficient they are. If the security guards can respond in 90 seconds why does it take up to 45 minutes to get a Police response? The problem is going to come when these guys arrest someone and the Police decide they're not going to work with them and do everything possible to stymie the arrest.
Privatisation? The sooner the better in my opinion.
