Strange comment that Powell is a like-for-like replacement for Paul Pogba: that's clearly wrong. Pogba at least for what little I saw of him (admittedly) was a deeper-lying midfielder, certainly with a good eye for goal from distance, and Powell is much more up front. Even if I'm very pleased with the signings of Kawaga and Powell, what bothers me most today is the thought that we need a Modric-like player to dictate play straight from defence and to the offensive midfielders and attackers. Carrick can do it when he's playing well, but he doesn't really speed up this vital phase as much as I'd like. Right, I've finished being a manager for now and just as well, because unlike some on here I recognise exactly how hard the job is and how exceptional Sir Alex is and how much we as fans owe to him.
