There we are again - all you do is highlight an 'as-bad-as' exemple of transport comparison. May I remind you that London has the Oyster Card? It's a huge advantage for the travellers there. Also, the bus fares are capped. A huge advantage once more.

What I am talking about are fully publically run services where profits are returned into the system rather than line the pockets of elitist shareholders. The passengers from all over the world sigh when they realise single bus journeys cost more than a Euro/Dollar, only to find that elitist Stagecoach/ First shareholders et al line their pockets at annual meetings.

The private sector has shown no interest in providing a competitive, reliable, clean service. Well, why should they? They are in it for the profit. They have a quasi-monopoly. The only acceptable monopoly is nationalisation, either for shared benefit or as you see it shared pain.

People are beginning to realise that it is becoming unaffordable to fill private transport companies' coffers. Time for change.
