The great post war myth was that it wasn't the 'ordinary German' who were our enemies but the Nazis. The myth helped people accept Germany after the war. You can see this myth played out in most WW2 films where the Nazis are shown as being different from the common German soldiers.
The problem comes when people see the same myth being recreated. If it was just fake British soldiers against fake Germans it would undermine the myth. For a reenactment you need the 'real' enemy, that is the Nazis.
Anything else is just silly men playing soldiers as they entertain the crowds by creating another false 'history'.
