Isn;t that whats wrong with football now. They were tough but at the end of the match it was handshakes all round. I certainly enjoyed playing to those rules and the crowds definately enjoyed the games more than today. Sure players are much fitter and the speed of the games much faster but money has taken over and encouraged 'cheats' with diving a part of the game. Barton would be classed as a boy in those days and would have got a smacked bottom for his childish antics.
