Addicts will continue to buy their brand no matter what packet it comes in, but it may be another successful measure to stop the attraction in the first place, to children and first timers, because packaging is designed to be appealing and attractive in order for people to buy something. That's why I was also in favour of hiding them out of plain sight. Show cigarettes up for what they really are and stop glamorising the addiction. They are not being banned, just more controlled in how they are displayed and advertised as a product.

I would do the same for alcohol too and if there ever came a day when all drugs were legalised (yeah, right), I'd want the government to implement the same kind of measures. People should be allowed to consume what they like, but give them the facts and don't advertise them as attractive lifestyle products.
