No one fears consequence no more. Once there was the threat of the cane, Borstal, the strap, a beating from your father, the local plod knocking on your door for a 'chat' with your parents and if worse, a custodial sentence in a Victorian prison with a grim regime. Now, no one really fears authority, the courts, the police or their elders. Teens fight in packs but are quick to call the cops when they take a beating. No manners, no respect for property, the elderly... I could go on and on. There has to be consequences for actions, and they need to be firm, hard and shocking. But no Government will have the backbone to install such.
