Scholes made the difference this season at a time when there was a lot of self doubt in the team. Picking the right team for games is what a manager should be good at but I must say I've been appalled at SAF's team selection over the past few seasons. And I reluctantly admit Mancini is light years ahead of SAF when it comes to team selection and tactics. These blunders by SAF has been getting more and more obvious ever since the first final we lost to Barca. Lesson learnt for the return match? Not at all. What has hurt most is the callous way we lost the two Champion's League finals. I've seen better challenges put up by Campionship teams in FA cup competitions than I have MU against Barca in the two finals.
Finally, do we need more evidence that we need two or three outstanding mid field players. SAF knew he needed them two seasons ago and has choked when it came to asking the Glazers for money. SAF seem to shoot off his mouth about referees and fellow managers but when it comes to criticising the Glazers about lack of funds, not even a whimper. So is SAF putting the team first or his job? Some needs to give SAF a Pep talk about who should take his place next season.
