Congratulations to all on the blue side, the Premier League has been a long time coming and is well deserved, the better team won it in the end.
The City faithful have waited an awful long time for this moment, with patience and never losing their sense of humour, no matter how frustrated they have been by the situations they have found themselves in over the years.
I remember my neighbour, a City fan, asking me the night before a game a long time ago if I had a plastic banana. I asked him what had happened to his banana and he said he had got drunk and burnt it promising never to take another one to Maine Road after Imre Varadi had played a bad game and missed some chances. He had decided to forgive Varadi and give him one more chance! Or his joy at setting off to watch City play Mansfield (I think) at Maine Road in the early rounds of the Auto Windscreens trophy in the late 90s. When I gently teased him about City having to play Mansfield, he just smiled and sang, “Were all off to Wembley”. On the way home, he knocked on our door and came in with some six packs after City had lost in front of few thousand fans. A couple of hours later, he was singing songs again and looking forward to the next game.
City fans are committed, loyal and faithful, their humour about the club never lessens, no matter what. Enjoy the party, it is well deserved!
